Non-European citizens can be admitted to the Master's degree by public selection.

To check the exact definition of "Non-Europeans", you must read the Note 1 of the Call of admission.

  • Application: from 20 December 2024 to 6 March 2025 at 12:00 (CET)
  • Rankings: by the end of April.
  • Confirmation: the deadline will be communicated via email by UniTrento staff
  • Online pre-enrollment at the Italian Embassy for non-EU applicants: by the deadline stated by the Italian government and communicated by UniTrento staff.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Diploma: by 30 June 2025
  • Enrollment: during the Summer and no later than 31 October 2025.
  • Arrival in Trento: at the beginning of September and no later than 30 September 2025.

Academic background

Degrees obtained in Italy

A Bachelor's Degree, or another qualification obtained abroad and recognized as valid, belonging to the italian class  L7 Civil and environmental engineering (ex D.M. 270/04 ) or class 8 (ex D.M. 509/99).

An average mark mark in the exams taken at least of 22.00/30, weighted on credits.

In case of a degree different from the ones stated above, students need to have passed exams in the academic disciplines as follows.

At least 24 ECTS among the following areas of disciplines:

  • MAT/03 Geometry
  • MAT/05 Mathematical Analysis
  • MAT/06 Probability and Statistics
  • MAT/07 Mathematical Physics
  • MAT/08 Numerical Analysis

At least 18 ECTS among the following areas of disciplines:

  • CHIM/06 Organic Chemistry
  • CHIM/07 Chemical foundations of technologies
  • FIS/01 Experimental physics
  • FIS/03 Physics of matter
  • ING-IND/10 Thermal Engineering and Industrial energy systems
  • ING-IND/11 Building physics and Building energy systems
  • ING-IND/22 Materials Science and Technology

At least 30 ECTS among the following areas of disciplines:

  • ICAR/01 Hydraulics
  • ICAR/02 Hydraulic structures, Maritime engineering and Hydrology
  • ICAR/03 Sanitary and Environmental engineering
  • ICAR/06 Surveying and mapping
  • ICAR/07 Geotechnics

At least 12 ECTS among the following areas of disciplines:

  • ICAR/08 Structural Mechanics
  • ICAR/09 Structural Engineering

Degrees obtained outside Italy

Inf you hold a qualification awarded prior to the introduction of ECTS or other qualification obtained abroad recognised as equivalent, the verification of the curricular requirements is carried out by the Selection Committee, considering the appropriate equivalences between the contents of the courses taken and those corresponding to the academic disciplines listed above.

Language proficiency

English language proficiency at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Submit the online application for Master in Environmental Engineering for non European for Non-Europeans by the deadline.

Application fee: € 30,00.

Documentation required

  • A copy of a valid passport with photo and personal data only.
  • Curriculum vitae et studiorum following the European template Europass.
  • A copy of the Bachelor's degree certificate or the certificate of enrollment including the expected graduation date.
  • A copy of the transcript of academic records including examinations, results and credits , with information on the grading scale. If you don't hold the degree at the time of application, you should include the list of courses not yet taken or passed.
  • A statement of purpose briefly explaining the reasons why you apply for this Master.
  • A copy of the English language certificate at B2 level, or
    • a writing statement issued by your university stating that English is the official teaching language of your degree
    • a self-declaration if you come from an English-speaking country
    • a self-declaration that you have graduated in an English-speaking country.

An official translation of each document is required, when the original document is not produced in English or Italian.

Illegible documents will not be considered and incomplete or non-submitted application forms will be automatically excluded from the selection process.

After the deadline the Selection Committee will evaluate the completed applications.

Selection criteria

  1. Academic curriculum (i.e. performance and results in previous studies, post-graduate degrees if any, extra academic experience), up to 70 points out of 100.
  2. Coherence between your previous studies and academic objectives of the programme, up to 25 points out of 100.
  3. Higher English language level than minumum requested or Italian language certificate, up to 5 points  out of 100.

You might be invited to interview (in person or via Conference call), only if the Selection Committee requires to collect further information on your academic skills and personal competencies.

You will be considered eligible with a score of at least 50 out of 100 points.

In a tie-breaker situation the Selection Committee will give priority to younger applicants.

In case you are admitted, you will be notified by email from UniTrento Staff with the instructions needed to confirm the place in the Program, such as:

  • how to complete the confirmation application
  • how to pay the confirmation fee of € 100,00.

If, for any reason, you decide to decline your position, pelase communicate your decision to the Master Admission Office Science and Technology area as soon as possible in order to give other eligible students the opportunity to study at the University of Trento.

If you are a Non-European citizen living outside Italy and you have been admitted to a University Programme in Italy you must:

  • pre-enrol at the Italian diplomatic office in your country;
  • apply for a university study or enrolment Visa at the Italian consular-diplomatic Representative. 

Since this procedure may take time, we encourage you to speed up procedures by contacting the Italian Representative as soon as possible.

You will be guided through this procedure and notified with the detailed instructions by the University of Trento as well.

Enrollment must be completed by the deadline stated in the call for admission: if you do not meet the deadline, your admission will be rejected.

Enrollment is conditional upon the positive evaluation of the eligibility of the university degree.

Further details about the enrollment to the Master’s degree will be provided via email by the Master Admission Office in due time.

You must be in Trento for the start of lessons, at the beginning of September .
