Admission procedures: who can apply
The programme is free access to Europeans and Equivalents: to be admitted, admission requirements must be verified according to the procedures described on this page and set out in the Programme’s regulations.
Admission requirements
The following requirements must be met for admission to the course.
Qualification and curricular requirements
A bachelor's degree or equivalent university/academic qualification (AFAM) of at least three years' duration, also obtained abroad if recognised as suitable.
You need at least 84 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System credits) in the following scientific disciplinary fields. Both thresholds must be satisfied:
- at least 24 ECTS in the SSD (scientific disciplinary fields) of the MATH group (formerly MAT)
- at least 54 ECTS in the SSD of the PHYS group (formerly FIS).
If you have a degree obtained abroad or under a system that does not use ECTS, the curricular requirements are verified based on the coherence of the contents and learning outcomes of your courses with the disciplinary fields indicated above.
Personal background
Your personal background is assessed through an interview with a Committee appointed annually by the Department. The interview is an opportunity for guidance to help students understand any gaps in their preparation and find the best path to address them: it is not an exam.
You do not need to sit the interview if you have met all three of the following requirements:
- at least 30 ECTS in the SSD of the MATH group (formerly MAT)
- at least 90 ECTS in the SSD of the PHYS group (formerly FIS)
- a final degree grade above 95/110.
Language skills
Knowledge of English at least at level B2 of the CEFR (Common Europcertificatesean Framework of Reference for Languages) is required. You can prove it in one of the following ways
- by having passed a university exam in English B2 as part of your degree programme;
- by providing a language certificate recognised by UniTrento.
If you don’t have any of these certifications, you can take and pass an English test at the University Language Centre before enrolment.

- the date on which you took it

Colloquio
The interview is an opportunity for guidance to help students understand any gaps in their preparation and find the best path to address them: it is not an exam.
If you need to sit the interview, you will receive an email from the Student Support Service with the composition of the Committee, and the exact date, time and location. The interview will take place on one of the following dates:
