Admission requirements

To be admitted to the programme, you must have a secondary school diploma from in Italy (“diploma di maturità”) or from abroad. If you get your secondary school diploma outside Italy, check whether it is valid for admission and which documents you need to submit on the page Admission requirements for students with international qualifications.

The course has a limited number of places: to be admitted, you must pass a selection process based on an admission test and be listed in the candidates admitted to the programme in the ranking list.

The following categories are eligible to participate in the selection process:

  • Italian citizens, European citizens and equivalent
  • Non-European citizens residing outside Italy may only apply in the first session and if they choose the Italian curriculum must prove the knowledge of the Italian language at a level of at least B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Language skills (CEFR).

The call for applications for the 2026/2027 academic year will be published in mid-December 2025.

You need to submit the admission application by the deadline set for the session you want to apply for:

  • authenticate and create a profile on the UniTrento website by logging in using SPID, CIE or another way described on the log in website
  • select the Degree Course and specify the Degree Course(s) you wish to apply for

You’ll receive a confirmation email as your request is sent.

Admission application will open from Mid-December 2025.

Test: when and where and how to register

The test you have to pass depends on the curriculum you want to enrol in and your category.

If you are a European citizen or equivalentTOLC-E test to enrol in the Italian or English curriculum.

If you are a non-European citizen:

UniTrento automatically obtains your test results from CISIA and considers the highest score you have achieved in the test since 1 January 2025 to be valid.

Italian language proficiency for non-Europeans

To enroll in Italian-taught degree courses or curriculum at the University of Trento, if you are a non-European citizen and you live outside Italy, you must demonstrate an Italian language proficiency as detailed in the Notes of the Call for application.

Further rankings will be published only in case of available seats.

If you are admitted in the ranking you must meet deadlines and procedures described on the ranking: if you miss it, you can not enrol.

Pre-enrollment and qualification confirmation

Enrollment occurs in multiple steps.

Pre-enrollment at UniTrento

  • Complete the pre-enrollment process on the Esse3 website by the deadline set in the raking
  • Receive an e-mail with the information to pay the pre-enrolment fee
  • Pay the pre-enrolment fee of € 80,00.

If you don't complete the pre-enrollment process by the deadline, you can not enrol.

If you complete the pre-enrollment procedure for one programme, but then you are admitted to another degree programme and you want to switch your preference, please write an email with your data to the Admission office.

There is no additional fee if you change your programme within the same session.

Educational qualification confirmation

By the deadlines provided in the Dates and deadlines paragraph, you have to confirm your educational qualification.

You are not required to confirm again your educational qualification, if you already provided the University of Trento with it in the past.

Visa request for non Europeans

If you are a citizen of a country outside the European Union and you are a resident outside Italy, after the pre-enrolment at Unitrento, you must complete the procedure called “pre-immatricolazione” at the Italian diplomatic representation in your country in order to obtain the Visa: information and deadlines are on the website Procedures for entry, residency and enrolment of international students and the respective recognition of qualifications for higher education courses in Italy.
