Choosing to study Civil Engineering at UniTrento means embarking on a journey that will have a profound impact on society and the environment. This key area of engineering will prepare you to design innovative works, from the scale of materials to large civil infrastructures, improving the quality of life and promoting sustainability. Recognised as a Department of Excellence, we offer high quality teaching with an innovative approach, combining traditional and cutting-edge methods with a focus on environmental impact. Internships with experienced tutors complete your preparation, giving you the foundations to successfully meet future challenges and become a key player in the European and international engineering scene.
You will learn the most advanced techniques for designing new civil engineering structures - buildings, industrial and infrastructure structures such as bridges, roads, railways, tunnels, dams and water networks - and for assessing the vulnerability of existing structures, monitoring them with advanced sensors and artificial intelligence.
The programme is divided into four paths:
Structures: Internationally recognised for its excellence in research and teaching, and for having some of the largest materials and structures testing laboratories in Europe, this track will teach you to design and analyse structures and materials at different scales, from microstructure to large engineering works.
Rehabilitation: Focuses on the rehabilitation and conservation of buildings, with a particular emphasis on timber structures, a sector in which UniTrento is an international leader. You will acquire advanced skills in the rehabilitation and sustainable conservation of heritage buildings and in the design of timber structures.
Digital Civil Infrastructure: The first course in Italy to integrate the world of infrastructure (bridges, roads, railways, tunnels, dams and water networks) with information technology and artificial intelligence. This course will uniquely prepare you for the design and management of "intelligent structures and infrastructures", combining cutting-edge technologies to meet the future challenges of the digitalisation of the sector.
Integrated Digital Design: A course that focuses on the holistic and sustainable design of buildings, with an emphasis on the environmental assessment of buildings, the use of advanced digital models for design, computer-aided construction management and innovative techniques for sustainable construction.
