The final assessment (thesis defence) consists in publicly defending a research paper, written under the guidance of a supervisor, before a Committee of professors and researchers.

Theses must be pieces of original research about a topic related to the subjects studied in the Master’s Degree.

By writing and defending their theses, you must demonstrate your capacity to:

  • investigate your chosen topic from a national, supranational, or international perspective;
  • develop their arguments thoroughly and critically, highlighting their personal contribution;
  • conduct research autonomously, with methodological rigour and judgement, and to apply interdisciplinary legal knowledge.

You can write your thesis, even only partially, within the framework of internships, international agreements, or Double Degree programmes.

Your supervisor may be any professor or researcher in the Faculty of Law (or an external professor with a teaching assignment in the Faculty of Law), with whom you have taken at least one exam in the same scientific-disciplinary sector (SSD) as the subject of the thesis.
