The final exam consists of the defence of a thesis under the guidance of a supervisor on a topic consistent with the content of the Master’s programme. The thesis can also be about a topic or an experience made during the study course such as internship or Erasmus+ programme.
The Master thesis has a double educational value:
- it allows to evaluate your learning outcomes via an empirical or theoretical research; on the other hand
- it allows to evaluate your level of autonomy in planning, writing, and discussing a scientific text.
The Supervisor can be chosen among:
- all the professors and researchers of the Department of Sociology and Social Research
- professors from outside the Department with a teaching assignment at the Department
- professors and researchers from other Departments or Centres of the University, with the prior authorisation of the Director of the Department
- for double degree programmes or other international agreements, a professor or a researcher from the partner university.
External activities authorization
If you need to carry out activities outside the UniTrento location, related to any course activity, or the thesis projetc, you must require in advance a specific authorization in order to grant insurance coverage. Funding for external study and research activities
If you are regularly enrolled or enrolled in the course, you can submit an application for a grant to carry out stays and visits for study or research, in Italy and abroad. More information on the page: Funding for students engaged in external study or research activities.
External professional and training activities recognition
If you carry out training or professional activities external to the programme, which can be considered consistent with its content and objectives, you can request them to be recognized to replace internships, elctive activities, "Meth Lab", transversal skills, IT skills.
The number of recognizable credits and the minimum duration of the activity are indicated on the page Internship.
To apply for recognition, fill in the DSSR-Application for recognition language certifications and outside activity and attach:
- the certificate of the institution or company in which you carried out the activity, which must include the period and duration in hours
- a report written following the Internship final report template.
