The Master’s degree is open to two categories of applicants:
- Europeans and Equivalents
- Non-Europeans.
To check the category you belong to, you must read the Note 1 of the Call of admission.
Maximum number of students: 50
Positions reserved to Non-Europeans citizens: up to 10.
First call
Open to all categories.
- Application: from 20 December 2024 to 6 March 2025 at 12:00 (CET)
- Rankings: by the end of April 2025
- Confirmation: within the deadline communicated by UniTrento Staff
- Online pre-enrollment at the Italian Embassy for non-EU applicants: by the deadline stated by the Italian government and communicated by UniTrento staff.
Second call
Open only to Europeans and Equivalent applicants.
- Application: from 14 April 2025 to 1st July 2025 at 12:00 (CET)
- Confirmation: within the deadline communicated by UniTrento Staff
Deadlines after admission
- Bachelor’s Degree Diploma:
- 30 June 2025 for Non-European applicants
- 31 October 2025 for European and equivalent applicants.
- Enrollment: within the deadline communicated by UniTrento Staff.
- Arrival in Trento: For the start of classes at the beginning of September. For Non-European students no later than 30 September 2025.
The only binding version is the Italian one
Bachelor's degree
You have to hold a Bachelors' or first-level university degree,, belonging to the following classes of related disciplines, based on Italian calssification:
- Civil and environmental engineering L7 (D.M. 270/04) or 8 (D.M. 509/99)
- Information technology engineering L8 (D.M. 270/04) or 9 (D.M. 509/99)
- Industrial engineering L9 (D.M. 270/04) or 10 (D.M. 509/99).
Or, you need to hold an equivalent degree in the broad classes of Industrial Engineering or Civil and Environmental Engineering or closely related scientific disciplines obtained abroad.
Academic requirements
Documented background in the following scientific areas, as described in the Call for admission:
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Thermodynamics and heat transfer
- Electrotechnics
- Fluid mechanics
- Materials Science
- Technologies and production systems
- Mechanics of structures
- Fluid machines
Average
At least an average grade in the Bachelor's degree of 22/30, based on the Italian grade system (corresponding to 73%).
In case of foreign qualifications, the evaluation of the curricular requirements is made by the Selection Committee that will assess the equivalence between the contents of the courses attended in previous careers and the subject areas of the programme.
Language proficiency
English language proficiency at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Submit the online application for Master in Energy Engineering by the deadline.
Application fee: € 30,00.
Documentation required
Identity document: a valid passport (for non EU citizens) or identity card (for EU citizens).
Bachelor’s degree: copy of your Bachelor’s degree certificate, if awarded, in English or Italian. Otherwise you must upload an official translation.
Transcript of records: must include courses, credits, marks awarded and GPA (weighted average), the list of courses not yet taken or passed as detailed in the call for admission, art. 3.c. The grading scale is mandatory for non italian degrees.
Video presentation: link to your personal video presentation, as detailed in the attached document.
English language proficiency at B2 level can be certified as follows:
- holding a secondary school leaving qualifications (A-levels, Abitur, "Maturità") where the main teaching language of the final year was English (evaluated as level C1);
- holding an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in which the medium of instruction was English (evaluated as level C1);
- submitting an internationally language certification Accepted as as entry requirements for degree programmes;
- having passed a language examination at the level required during the previous university career, provided all four linguistic abilities were tested and the level is stated on the transcript;
- only for Europeans and Equivalent citizens: having passed a language test organised by the Language Centres of the University of Trento or Bolzano (CLA) within the deadline for enrolment.
Selection criteria
The selection process consists of two phases:
- Assessment of qualifications
- Assessment of video presentation.
Applicants having the minimum admission requirements will be selected according to the following criteria:
Curriculum studiorum, up to 50 points: evaluation of the previous first-level university path, including also professional experiences and consistency between the obtained qualification and the objectives of the programme
Evaluation of personal preparation, up to 30 points: degree final grade, GPA, and, if applicable, an interview.
English Language, up to 10 points if certified level is higher than B2.
Personal video presentation,up to 10 points: the video presentation will be evaluated if the overall grade obtained from the evaluations as per points Curriculum studiorum and Evaluation of personal preparation will be above a minimum threshold established by the Evaluation Committee
Candidates scoring at least 50 points will be declared eligible for the programme and ranked accordingly.
In case of candidates having the same score, priority will be given to the youngest applicant.

The Ranking list with admitted candidates and scholarship assignation will be published on this page.
In case you are admitted, you will be notified by email from UniTrento Staff with the instructions needed to confirm the place in the Program, such as:
- how to complete the confirmation application
- how to pay the confirmation fee of € 100,00.
If, for any reason, you decide to decline your position, pelase communicate your decision to the Master Admission Office as soon as possible in order to give other eligible students the opportunity to study at the University of Trento.
If you are a Non-European citizen living outside Italy and you have been admitted to a University Programme in Italy you must:
- pre-enrol at the Italian diplomatic office in your country;
- apply for a university study or enrolment Visa at the Italian consular-diplomatic Representative.
Since this procedure may take time, we encourage you to speed up procedures by contacting the Italian Representative as soon as possible.
You will be guided through this procedure and notified with the detailed instructions by the University of Trento as well.
Enrollment must be completed by the deadline communicated by UniTrento Staff: if you do not meet the deadline, your admission will be rejected.
Enrollment is conditional upon the positive evaluation of the eligibility of the university degree.
Further details about the enrollment to the Master’s degree will be provided via email by the administrative office in due time.
You must be in Trento for the the start of classes at the beginning of September.

Non-Europeans admitted students must be in Trento no later than 30 September 2025.
