    • MAT/02 Algebra
    • MAT/03 Geometry
    • MAT/04 Mathematics education and history of mathematics
    • MAT/05 Mathematical analysis
    • MAT/06 Probability and statistics
    • MAT/07 Mathematical physics
    • MAT/08 Numerical analysis
    • MAT/09 Operational research
    • FIS/01 Experimental physics
    • FIS/02 Theoretical physics, mathematical models and methods
    • FIS/03 Physics of matter
    • CHIM/03 General and inorganic chemistry
    • CHIM/06 Organic chemistry
    • CHIM/07 Chemical foundations of technologies
    • SECS-S/01 Statistics
  • at least 12 ECTS in the following SSD:
    • INF/01 Informatics
    • ING-INF/05 Information processing systems

If you have a degree obtained abroad or under a system that does not use ECTS Your study path must include the following subjects and topics:

  • Mathematical Analysis. Introduction to infinitesimal analysis in one variable, real and complex numbers, limits of sequences and functions, continuous functions, derivatives, polynomial approximation, integrals and improper integrals, numerical series, series of functions, linear and nonlinear differential equations.
  • Geometry and Linear Algebra. Elements of analytic geometry in the plane and three-dimensional space. Geometric transformations in space. Introduction to linear algebra.
  • Discrete Mathematics. Sets and cardinality (combinatorial calculus), integer and modular arithmetic, graphs, and other elements of discrete mathematics.
  • Probability and Statistics. Introduction to probability theory: events and probability spaces, Bayes' theorem and conditional probabilities, random variables, discrete-time and continuous-time stochastic processes, Markov systems, Gaussian distributions, basic tools of descriptive and inferential statistics.
  • Physics. Fundamentals of classical mechanics: kinematics, dynamics, reference frames. Fundamental phenomena and laws of electricity and electromagnetism.
  • Programming. Basic techniques of imperative programming. Interpreted and compiled languages. Constructs of structured programming. Object-oriented programming. Elements of databases. Basic principles of software project development.
  • Algorithms and Data Structures. Basic knowledge of optimization problems, algorithms and linear data structures such as lists and trees. Sorting algorithms. Elementary knowledge of computational complexity.

Language skills

Knowledge of English at least at level B2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is required. You can prove it in one of the following ways

  • by having passed a university exam in English B2 as part of your degree programme;
  • by providing a language certificate recognised by UniTrento.

If you don’t have any of these certifications, you can take and pass an English test at the University Language Centre before enrolment.
