Admission procedures: who can apply
The programme is free access to Europeans and Equivalents: to be admitted, admission requirements must be verified according to the procedures described on this page and set out in the Programme’s regulations.
Admission requirements
The following requirements must be met for admission to the course.
Qualification and curricular requirements
A bachelor's degree or equivalent university qualification, also obtained abroad if recognised as suitable.
If you have a Bachelor's degree in class L-8 or L-9 You automatically meet the curricular requirements.
If you have a Bachelor's degree in a different class You need at least 75 ECTS in the scientific disciplinary fields indicated in Table A of the Program Regulations. All three thresholds must be satisfied:
At least 24 ECTS in the following SSD:
- MAT/02 Algebra
- MAT/03 Geometry
- MAT/05 Mathematical analysis
- MAT/06 Probability and statistics
- MAT/07 Mathematical physics
- MAT/08 Numerical analysis
- SECS-S/01 Statistics
- SECS-S/02 Statistics for experimental and technological research
- SECS-S/06 Mathematical methods of economy, finance and actuarial sciences
At least 15 ECTS in the following SSD:

If you have a degree obtained outside Italy The curricular requirements are verified by a Committee appointed by the Departmental Council, on the proposal of the Programme Board, based on appropriate equivalences between the contents of your previous courses and the disciplinary fields of Table A of the Program Regulations, listed in the "If you have a Bachelor's degree in a different class" section above.
Personal background
For candidates with a degree obtained abroad and recognized as eligible, the verification of the adequacy of personal background may also include a test before a committee appointed by the Departmental Council.
Language skills
Knowledge of English at least at level B2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is required. You can prove it in one of the following ways
- by having passed a university exam in English B2 as part of your degree programme;
- by providing a language certificate recognised by UniTrento.
If you don’t have any of these certifications, you can take and pass an English test at the University Language Centre before enrolment.
Request for admission 2026/2027
When: from May 18 to November 12 2026
Who must apply: all applicants, including students already enrolled at UniTrento and those who already meet all the requirements.
You can submit your application before graduating or before meeting all the curricular requirements.
Outcome: you will receive an email within one month of submitting your application.
If you are studying or have studied at another university, in the online application you must attach a self-declaration of the exams you have taken indicating for each exam:
- the Scientific Disciplinary Sector (SSD)
- the credits (CFU, undergraduate credits)
- the date on which you took it
- the final grade of the exam
- the syllabus (detailed course programme).
If you are missing certain curricular requirements, you can enroll in Single Courses for Master's Degrees and take the corresponding exams by the registration deadline.
If you don't meet the language proficiency requirement, you can make it up by passing an English language test at the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA).
The written tests will be held in person in Trento at the CLA, while the speaking part will be online.
Once you have achieved the language requirement, write an email to the Student support service in order to proceed with the enrolment.

As you fulfill all the admission requirements, the Student Support service will send you the instructions tu fill in the enrolment request.
Enrollment deadline for a.y. 2026/2027: 21 December 2026.
After receiving the email with your matriculation number, in order to ‘activate’ your first-year course registration, you must complete the yearly enrollment within 7 days of receiving the email: this is required to access all University services such as wi-fi, the canteen card, library services, to register for exams, and CLA language courses.
