European and equivalent citizens can apply through a selection call based on academic curriculum and merit.

Degrees obtained in Italy

You have to hold a Bachelors' or first-level university degree and your previous curriculum studiorum must meet the following requirements.

At least 24 ECTS in Mathematics and Statistics:

  • MAT/01 Mathematical Logic
  • MAT/02 Algebra
  • MAT/03 Geometry
  • MAT/04 Mathematics Education And History Of Mathematics
  • MAT/05 Mathematical Analysis
  • MAT/06 Probability and Statistics
  • MAT/07 Mathematical Physics
  • MAT/08 Numerical Analysis
  • MAT/09 Operations Research.

At least 30 ECTS in Physics. The minimum number of credits has been amended on February 17 2025:

  • FIS/01 Experimental Physics
  • FIS/02 Theoretical Physics, Mathematical Models and Methods
  • FIS/03 Physics of Matter
  • FIS/04 Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics
  • FIS/05 Astronomy and Astrophysics
  • FIS/06 Physics of The Earth and of the Circumterrestrial Medium
  • FIS/07 Applied Physics
  • FIS/08 Physics Teaching and History of Physics.

At least 6 ECTS in Chemistry:

  • CHIM/01 Analitical Chemistry
  • CHIM/02 Physical Chemistry
  • CHIM/03 General and Inorganic Chemistry
  • CHIM/06 Organic Chemistry
  • CHIM/07 Chemical foundations of technologies
  • CHIM/12 Chemistry for the environment and for cultural heritage.

Degrees obtained outside Italy

If you hold a Bachelor's degree from a non Italian University, or other equivalent degree awarded abroad, the requirements will be evaluated by the Selection Committee.

English language proficiency at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required.

You can prove it through:

  • a written statement issued by your university stating that English is the official teaching language of your degree.
  • A self-declaration if you come from an English-speaking country.
  • Transcript of records of previous academic career stating that you have passed an English language examination at the level required, provided all four abilities (reading, writing, speaking and listening) have been tested.
  • Only for Europeans and Equivalent citizens: having passed a language test organised by the Language Centre (CLA) of the University of Trento within the deadline for enrolment.

All deadlines are strict. Missing any deadline will result in losing your place.

First call application: from 17 December 2025 to 4 March 2026 at 12:00 CET

Second call application: from 21 April to 30 June 2026  at 12:00 CET

Confirmation: within the deadline communicated by UniTrento Staff

Bachelor's degree graduation: by October 31, 2026, for Europeans and equivalents and for non Europeans graduating in Italy with valid study permit

Enrollment at UniTrento: within the deadline communicated by UniTrento Staff

An official translation of each document is required, when the original document is not produced in English or Italian.

Illegible documents will not be considered and incomplete or non-submitted application forms will be excluded from the selection process.

When you submit your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • Identity document: a valid passport (for non EU citizens) or identity card (for EU citizens).

  • Bachelor’s degree: copy of your Bachelor’s degree certificate, if awarded, in English or Italian. Otherwise, you must upload an official translation.

  • Transcript of records: must include courses, credits, marks awarded and GPA (weighted average) and the grading scale (mandatory for non Italian degrees). Students enrolled in or holding a degree from an Italian University other than UniTrento must submit a self-declaration according to DPR 445/2000 instead of an official certificate.

  • Statement of purpose of maximum 3.000 characters, spaces included.

  • Academic requisites self assessment as per attached document is strongly recommended.

  • English proficiency at B2 level certified as described in the Language requirements.

Declining your position

If you decide not to enroll, please inform the Master Admission Office as soon as possible via email. Your prompt notice can make a real difference, giving another student the chance to enroll on time.

Enrollment must be completed by the deadline stated in the call for admission: if you do not meet the deadline, your admission will be rejected.

Enrollment is conditional upon the positive evaluation of the eligibility of the university degree.

Further details about the enrollment to the Master’s degree will be provided via email by the Master Admission Office in due time.

You must be in Trento for the start of classes, in early September: the exact arrival date will be notified by the University staff in Summer.

Lessons take place only in person.
