Who can apply
Non-European citizens living outside Italy can apply through a selection call based on academic curriculum and merit.
Seats available: 20 (limited number)
A Bachelor's or higher degree awarded in Italy or other qualification recognized as equivalent awarded abroad including a minimum of 50 ECTS related to courses belonging to the Scientific Disciplinary Sectors (SSD) of the Bachelor’s Degree Classes L-20, L-24, L-31 (Ministerial Decree 19/12/2023 n. 1648) and therefore attributable to the:
- Philosophical, Linguistic, and Humanistic Disciplines
- Psychological Disciplines
- Engineering and Informatics Disciplines
- Pedagogical and Historical Disciplines
- Legal, Economic, Statistical, and Social Disciplines
- Biological, Physical, and Mathematical Sciences Disciplines.
In case of a qualification belonging to an educational system that does not include SSDs or of another suitable qualification obtained abroad, the verification of the curricular requirements is carried out by evaluating the consistency of the completed courses with respect to the disciplinary sectors mentioned above.
Candidates who do not yet possess the credits in the groups of scientific-disciplinary sectors established in this paragraph are also admitted to the selection, provided they obtain them by July 31, 2026
English language proficiency at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
You can prove it through:
- a self-declaration that you speak English as mother tongue
- a writing statement issued by your university stating that English is the official teaching language of your degree
- a Transcript of records attesting the completion of a university exam of English language knowledge at B2 level.
- An international certificate recognised by UniTrento: see the list of Accepted certificates for admission to study programs (point 2).
- If you don't have any way to prove your English knowledge when you apply, you'll have to send the certificate as soon as you are admitted to the Master's Admission Office by June 15 2026.

A copy of a valid passport or identity card with photo and personal data only.
A copy of the Bachelor's degree certificate or the certificate of enrollment including the expected graduation date (Italian applicants can provide a self-declaration).
Transcipt of records including a list of all courses, exams and marks awarded, the list of exams for the qualification to be awarded, the weighted average mark and the minimum to maximum range of marks.
Transcript of marks obtained in all exams taken during any post-graduate degree (Master’s) awarded before the submission of this application showing the final mark, any weighting of exams and indicating the range of minimum to maximum marks possible.
A statement of purpose of maximum 4.000 characters (spaces included) explaining: your motivations for attending the Master's program, a list of relevant experiences, and any extracurricular activities which may be of interest.
Curriculum vitae et studiorum following the European template Europass: it should highlight the most important steps of your academic and professional career and include information about permanent contact and present address (phone number, email, Skype contact if you have one).
A self-presentation video of around 5 minutes: briefly present yourself in English, explain your interest in the field of HCI and your motivation to apply for the programme. Upload it on Youtube, Vimeo or other similar platforms and provide with the URL in the application.
A letter of reference (optional): written in English or in Italian by one of your professors at University or by managers in your company. Your referee have to send the letter directly to us (mhci@unitn.it) specifying your name in the subject line. We strongly encourage you to use the sample reference letter attached.
English proficiency at B2 level certified as described in the Language requirements.
The admission Committee will evaluate the entry requirements of each candidate taccording to the programme regulations.

In case you are admitted, you will be notified by email from UniTrento Staff with the instructions needed to confirm the place.

Declining your position
If you decide not to enroll, please inform the Master Admission Office as soon as possible via email. Your prompt notice can make a real difference, giving another student the chance to enroll on time.
Before you can officially enrol at the University of Trento, you must:
- complete the “Pre-enrolment” application specified at Step 6 of Universitaly - First steps page
- apply for a study Visa for enrolment at the Italian consulate or embassy in your country.
This procedure may take time: please speed up procedures by contacting the Italian Representative as soon as possible.
You will be guided through this procedure and notified with detailed instructions by the University of Trento as well, after admission.
Enrollment must be completed by the deadline stated in the call for admission: if you do not meet the deadline, your admission will be rejected.
Enrollment is conditional upon the positive evaluation of the eligibility of the university degree.
Further details about the enrollment to the Master’s degree will be provided via email by the Master Admission Office in due time.
You must be in Rovereto (Province of Trento) for the start of classes, in early September: the exact arrival date will be notified by the University staff in Summer.
Lessons take place only in person.
