The programme is free access to students with Italian or European citizenship and equivalents: in order to be admitted, admission requirements must be verified according to the procedures described on this page and set out in the Programme’s regulations.
Some places are reserved for non-European citizens: to be admitted, they must pass a selection based on the Admission call to courses taught in Italian and apply for the former Master's Degree in Global and Local Studies.
The following requirements must be met for admission to the course.
Qualification and curricular requirements
A bachelor's degree or equivalent university qualification of at least three years' duration, also obtained abroad if recognised as suitable.
The Italian degree is considered eligible if it belongs to one of the following degree classes:
- L-36 Political science and international relations
- L-37 Peace studies
- L-39 Social work
- L-40 Sociology.
If the bachelor's degree belongs to classes other than those indicated, the educational path must include:
- at least 36 ECTS (university credits) in one of the following academic disciplines: SPS/04, SPS/07, SECS-P/02, IUS/09, M-STO/04;
- at least 12 ECTS in one of the following academic disciplines: SECS-S/04, SPS/01, SPS/08, SPS/09, SPS/10, SPS/11, M-DEA/01, M-GGR/02.
Personal background
You must have a graduation grade of minimum 90/110, or equivalent. With a lower mark you need to pass an admission interview with the programme's president.
Language proficiency
You must show proof of English proficiency at least at B2 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
If you do not have Italian citizenship, you must show proof of Italian proficiency at least at the B2 level of the CEFR.
To enroll in the course, you must submit the Admission application from April 16 to December 12 2025.
You must submit the application even if you are a student or undergraduate in a UniTrento degree course and already meet the admission requirements.
You can submit your application even if you have not graduated yet.
The outcome will be communicated by email.
If you have to attend the interview, Student Support will email you to put you in touch with the programme President.
If you are missing certain curricular requirements, you can enroll in Single Courses for Master's Degrees and take the corresponding exams by the registration deadline.
If you don't meet the language proficiency requirement, you can make it up by passing an English language test at the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA).
The written tests will be held in person in Trento at the CLA, while the speaking part will be online.
Once you have achieved the language requirement, write an email to the Student support service in order to proceed with the enrolment.

As you fulfill all the admission requirements, the Student Support service will send you the instructions tu fill in the enrolment request.
Enrollment request is open from July to December 19 2025.
After receiving the email with your matriculation number, in order to ‘activate’ your first-year course registration, you must complete the yearly enrollment within 7 days of receiving the email: this is required to access all University services such as wi-fi, the canteen card, library services, to register for exams, and CLA language courses.
