The Master’s degree is open to two categories of applicants:
- Europeans and Equivalents
- Non-Europeans.

Degrees obtained in Italy
You have to hold a Bachelors' or first-level university degree and your previous curriculum studiorum must meet the following requirements.
At least 24 ECTS in Mathematics and Statistics:

- FIS/05 Astronomy and Astrophysics

At least 6 ECTS in Chemistry:
- ICAR/01 Hydraulics
- ICAR/02 Hydraulic structures, Maritime engineering and Hydrology
- ICAR/03 Sanitary and Environmental engineering
- ICAR/06 Surveying and mapping
- ICAR/07 Geotechnics.
Degrees obtained outside Italy
If you hold a Bachelor's degree from a non Italian University, or other equivalent degree awarded abroad, the requirements will be evaluated by the Selection Committee.

Language proficiency
English language proficiency at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Submit the online application for Master in Environmental Meteorology and Climate Physics by the deadline.

Documentation required
Identity document: a valid passport (for non EU citizens) or identity card (for EU citizens).
Bachelor’s degree: copy of your Bachelor’s degree certificate, if awarded, in English or Italian. Otherwise you must upload an official translation.
Transcript of records: must include courses, credits, marks awarded and GPA (weighted average) and the grading scale (mandatory for non italian degrees). Students enrolled in or holding a degree from an Italian University other than UniTrento must submit a self-declaration according to DPR 445/2000 instead of an official certificate.
A Statement of purpose of maximum 3.000 characters, spaces included.
Academic requisites self assessment as per attached document is strongly recommended.
A copy of the English language certificate compliant with the Accepted certificates as entry requirements for degree programmes, or
- a writing statement issued by your university stating that English is the official teaching language of your degree.
- A self-declaration if you come from an English-speaking country.
- A self-declaration that you have graduated in an English-speaking country.
- Transcript of records of previous academic career stating that you have passed an English language examination at the level required, provided all four abilities (reading, writing, speaking and listening) have been tested.
- Only for Europeans and Equivalent citizens: having passed a language test organised by the Language Centres of the University of Trento within the deadline for enrolment.
An official translation of each document is required, when the original document is not produced in English or Italian.
Illegible documents will not be considered and incomplete or non-submitted application forms will be automatically excluded from the selection process.

Selection criteria
The selection process consists of two phases:
- Assessment of qualifications
- Interview
Applicants will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
Curriculum studiorum: up to 65 points out of 100: based on the academic record, previous academic education (i.e. Grade Point Average and class qualification, educational background, Language certifications if the level is higher than the minimum admission requirement), extra-academic experiences if any, coherence with the programme learning objectives.
Statement of purpose: up to 5 points out of 100: description of the personal goals and expectations with regards to the master's learning objectives.
Interview, up to 30 points out of 100: the candidates will be offered the opportunity to explain the reasons behind their decision to undertake this programme, and explain what their previous studies were. They will be invited to briefly describe some basic concepts or principles of physics that have relevance to meteorology. In some cases, the committee may ask the candidate to explain how he/she would solve some simple maths, physics, or logic problems.
The interview takes place in English so as to also test the language proficiency.
Candidates will be admitted to the interview only provided the evaluation as per Curriculum studiorum will be above a minimum threshold that will be established by the Evaluation Committee
Candidates scoring at least 50 points will be declared eligible for the programme and ranked accordingly.
In case of candidates having the same score, priority will be given to the youngest applicant.

In case you are admitted, you will be notified by email from UniTrento Staff with the instructions needed to confirm the place in the Program, such as:
- how to complete the confirmation application
- how to pay the confirmation fee of € 100,00.
If, for any reason, you decide to decline your position, pelase communicate your decision to the Master Admission Office as soon as possible in order to give other eligible students the opportunity to study at the University of Trento.
If you are a Non-European citizen living outside Italy and you have been admitted to a University Programme in Italy you must:
- pre-enrol at the Italian diplomatic office in your country;
- apply for a university study or enrolment Visa at the Italian consular-diplomatic Representative.
Since this procedure may take time, we encourage you to speed up procedures by contacting the Italian Representative as soon as possible.
You will be guided through this procedure and notified with the detailed instructions by the University of Trento as well.
Enrollment must be completed by the deadline communicated by UniTrento Staff: if you do not meet the deadline, your admission will be rejected.
Enrollment is conditional upon the positive evaluation of the eligibility of the university degree.
Further details about the enrollment to the Master’s degree will be provided via email by the administrative office in due time.
You must be in Trento for the the start of classes at the beginning of September.
