The final exam for the Master's degre in Physics consists of writing a Master’s thesis, a written dissertation, and discussing it with an examination committee. Both the thesis and its discussion must be in English.
The thesis work aims to:
- put you into direct contact with at least one frontier topic in Physics research;
- give you the opportunity to personally contribute to the advancement of research;
- assess your scientific maturity at the end of the programme.
The thesis must address a topic in Physics, the application of physical methodologies to other disciplines, or the application of other methodologies to Physics.
Thesis work is usually carried out within one of the research groups or laboratories of the Department of Physics or affiliated institutions, under the guidance of a supervisor.
Details on who may act as a supervisor, the procedures for the final examination, and the criteria for grading and awarding the final score are outlined in the Final Exam Regulations ("Regolamento di Prova finale").
